Today’s butterfly is the Hackberry Emperor. A lovely brush-footed butterfly with a brownish and white pattern on the open side of its wings and a lighter tan and white pattern with light blue spots on the closed side of its wings.
I have been having to google all of these butterflies to learn their names and facts about them and it is just so fascinating. I have never really gotten down to the names of butterflies before, I just thought they were pretty and colorful, but it has been a real joy to learn the names and read about the life cycles and caterpillars. Fun fact about these guys is that they tend to eat rotting fruit and tree sap, so my photos of this one on a flower is not the norm for them.
Have a blessed day!
