For the Beloved – November 24th

For the Beloved by Adelaide Love

Let there be you beside me in the twilight
After the color and vehemence of the day,
When the silence holds, as a shell holds a pearl in its hollow,
The word that we need not say.

Let there be you beside me in the twilight
After the splendor and turbulence of the years,
When the silence shall hold remembrance of laughter and heartache,
Of peace and passion, of hope and desperate tears.

Let there be you beside me in the twilight
As my lips assume the silence no lips have broken,
And death shall find that for two so long accustomed
To dusk without need of words, he has no token.
