If you need some Spring… – March 31st

20140331-093404.jpg

If you need some spring and some flowers we are willing to share. I think we have enough to go around. It’s not even April yet and things are starting to bloom like crazy around here. But trust me I am not complaining! I love it, we are going to have a string of days with 70 digress or higher and sunshine. It was so beautiful here yesterday that I pulled my bike out for the first ride of the season. And I was not the only one, the bike path was packed with bikes, walkers and runners enjoying a glorious day in the Ozarks. And the weather gave me the chance to yesterday pull out the #sorryChicago hashtag for all my lovely fiends who are still freezing. Poor things. Oh well, maybe it will be warm there in August…

Have a blessed day!

Hamantash – March 31st

20140331-092042.jpg

Over the weekend I my new thing was a place and a food, I went to this new bakery in Springfield called Legacy Bagelry and tried a Hamantash. I also got a wild blueberry bagel, but back to the Hamantash, which was absolutely delicious, it’s a filled pocket pastry, not sure what the filling was, either blueberry or date, maybe prune. But oh my gosh, it is now my new favorite thing.

Morning Sunrise – March 27th

20140327-093929.jpg

I snapped this photo a few days ago, it was stunning! As I was pulling out of my street I looked to the left and there it was. Beautiful. Sunrise always bring so much hope, hope for a new day, new experiences, new joys. I think that spring brings that as well, the hope for newness, revival, new love. So much hope with each new season, especially the ones that bring warmth and flowers.

Have a blessed day!

Oh Spring How I Love You! – March 26th

20140326-101334.jpg

Just dreaming about gardens filled to the brim with flowers, butterflies and birds. I think everyone is after the winter we have experienced this year. My heart goes out to my friends in Chicago and points beyond as they have just been completely covered in snow and cold. My hope is as the snow melts away it will expose warmth and beauty and joy. I pray your Spring and Summer will be awesome! And I look forward to hearing about yours and sharing mine with you!

By the way, this photo is taken in one of my favorite places, my local botanical gardens. This place is covered by and iron arch and climbing roses and it is beautiful.

Have a blessed day!

Gelato – March 26th

20140326-100238.jpg

So a couple days ago I went to the grocery store and I noticed on the bottom of my receipt a coupon for gelato. I have never had this before so why not go and try it since I never have and it was $0.99! So I went to the store and tried Cookies and Cream gelato, and it was so very good, in fact I think I like it better then normal ice cream! So yummy! But even cooler then how good it was I found out that company that makes this gelato is a local Springfield company. Benissimo Gelato and Sorbet is locally owned, operated an made here in Springfield, MO, if you want to find out more information about them you can here.

Creating Art – March 24th

20140324-115716.jpg

I have found this new creative blog called This Is Colossal. And it has inspired me to create a new art piece for my home. It is inspired by this art instillation . So over the weekend I was scouring old book stores and flea markets for books filled with photos of flowers and butterflies. And what you are seeing is the start of the process of removing the flora and butterflies from the pages. I have several more to go but I am excited about what it will look like soon. It will be worth sore hands.

I love creating things, whether it is watercolors or paper craft or beading or cooking. It’s all creating to me. It feeds my soul and removes stress. Recently one of the new things that I am doing is something called art journaling for Lent. It is a Facebook group and we share what we have created from the prompts we are given. It is lovely to see all the art and to create something that is related to Jesus. Loving it.

Go out and create something today!

Daffodil Days – March 24th

20140324-093313.jpg

For those of you that are still having cold weather and snow, these are for you. A small gift to you from Southwest Missouri. I am hoping for all of you the snow and cold is over soon. I spoke to a friend in Chicago last night and they said they were expecting more snow today or tomorrow and I just feel so bad for them. So here is a little bit of Spring from my corner of the world to your corner, wherever that may be. If you want to shout out where you are that would be great. I love hearing about new places!

Have a blessed day!

Icelandic Skyr – March 24th

20140324-092135.jpg

My breakfast this morning is something new, it is Skyr. It is a dairy product like yogurt, but maybe a little thicker and has an almost smoother creamer texture. It has that bite that I would expect with like a Greek yogurt. It is actually really good, I like it’s texture and flavor. I am looking forward to trying the blueberry, wish I could try the strawberry but I am allergic. Oh well, I will just need to have someone else tell me how it tastes.

Have a blessed day!
