Baby It’s Cold Outside – January 6th

Baby, it’s cold outside! So cold and so windy. You know I would have thought I would have missed out on this when I moved from Chicago, but nope. I am now so thankful for the garage I have because I didn’t have to shovel my car out. I seriously wish I lived in the Southern Hemisphere right now, at least it’s warm there. I have a really good friend who lives in South Africa and we were exchanging photos of our Christmas’ and they were having a braai or BBQ and I was so jealous! Oh well, maybe someday I will get to live somewhere warmer, without snow. Then again maybe not…

Stay safe and warm out there!

Have a blessed day!

The Snow Falls Like Glitter – January 2nd

So, I am sitting at work and I feel the sun on my face. This is interesting because we have had snow and clouds for the last day and a half. But there was a break in the clouds and the snow was shining through. I turned my head and looked out the window and it looked like it was snowing glitter. Floating down from the sky, breathtaking! I sat and watched it for the entire time it was like that. You know, I could have ignored the sun, but I didn’t and it reminded me just how much I love creation. The beauty of it just fills my soul. And honestly sometimes I just stand there and say thank you God, what a beautiful thing you have given us.

I hope that you will see something that fills your soul today with awe and wonder, something breathtaking!

Have a blessed day!

Ps. The photo doesn’t do what I saw justice…

Sunrise On Fresh Snow – December 10th

We woke up to a fresh dusting of snow this morning, we are at 11 inches. Which for our area is more snow in a few days then we got from November to March last year. I think it’s going to be a very cold and snowy year.

I snapped this shot this morning, the sun looks amazing against a landscape that is fully covered in white!

Have a blessed day!

Fields of White – December 9th

The fields are filled with soft white snow, eagerly waiting more that is to come tonight. And here I thought I would be able to travel to Chicago and maybe miss out on snow up there but that is not going to happen. Dang…

One of the thinks I have discovered about myself is my major dislike for the cold. Not that it isn’t beautiful but I just really don’t like to be out in it for massive amounts of time, and I really don’t like it when I have to drive in it. Speaking of driving, my Christmas present this year is 4 brand new tires. I know, not very exciting but practical and very much needed!

I snapped this photo over the weekend standing in the snowy field with my big furry boots on and big puffy jacket and gloves and a scarf and a hat and…I know lots of things on to keep me warm. But even though it was really cold it was worth it because it is beautiful outside.

Have a blessed day!

White Fields – December 8th

White Fields by James Stephens

In the winter time we go
Walking in the fields of snow;

Where there is no grass at all;
Where the top of every wall,

Every fence and every tree,
Is as white as white can be.

Pointing out the way we came,
Everyone of them the same-

All across the fields there be
Prints in silver filigree;

And our mothers always know,
By our footprints in the snow,

Where the children go.

The First Snow Fall – December 7th

The First Snow-Fall by James Russell Lowell

The snow had begun in the gloaming,
And busily all the night
Had been heaping field and highway
With a silence deep and white.

Every pine and fir and hemlock
Wore ermine too dear for an earl,
And the poorest twig on the elm tree
Was ridged inch deep with pearl.

Abstract Art – December 6th

This bit of abstract art brought to you by…snow!

We have about 6 inches and counting on top of a layer of ice! This calls for a Snow Day!!! And lots of shoveling of snow off the driveway, but not the car. Thanks to having a garage, it’s the small things that make me happy!! Stay safe out there if you have snow or ice.

Have a blessed day!
