Early Riser – June 12th

20140612-090358-32638058.jpg

I was up early this morning, which is not normal for me. As I was snuggled up in bed not wanting to get out I noticed a pink hue filling my room. So I looked out the back window and this was the sunrise. It was stunning to see after several days in a row of gray rainy days. And even though this didn’t last, and it is cloud covered again. This made me happy. My first entry on Instagram for #100happydays.

The Views Are For Free – January 23rd

20140123-120411.jpg

The last couple of mornings and evenings have been cold but the views have been glorious. I like to call them technicolor clouds. I have to thank God for them because it really is how I connect with Him. I snapped this shot while I was filling my gas tank, and I was struck with how beautiful it was. It reminds me that I sometimes feel like each beautiful thing I see in nature is like a bear hug from God. It’s like he is saying look at what I have done, isn’t it gorgeous, and remember that you are so much more beautiful and important to me. What a wondrous thought that He cares so much. Even when life is hard, I have to think He is all that much closer to you when you are in the midst of the valley.

On a completely unrelated topic I saw the most beautiful picture of peace in the midst of the protests in the Ukraine. You can see it here. What a image to see this priest standing in between the protesters and the security forces. I just can’t get over it. It’s very true that blessed are the peacemakers.

It Sounds Like Hail – December 5th

20131205-081310.jpg

Very early this morning, I was awaken by this sound, a pinging on the window. In my half asleep, half awake mind I thought it was hail. But no, it was not, it was the sound of sleet hitting my window. Which means that snow storm is coming, although it hasn’t fully arrived yet. Better go buy a ice scraper since I broke my other one last year.

Today’s photo is from warmer days and much nicer. Taken one of the mornings where I was still a forced passenger, but at least the view was beautiful. Love the colors on the horizon just before the sun pops up over it, blues, yellows, oranges and reds. Although, not all on display in this photo.

Have a blessed day!

Clear Skies – November 1st

20131101-090716.jpg

After what seems like a week of rain the skies are finally clear. And we are not talking light rain that is fun to play in, we are talking downpours so hard you really could see when you were driving. The Ozarks are in full fall colors here, beautiful oranges and reds and yellows! I am excited to be out in it after work today, so many photos, so little time.

I feel like I have been neglecting this place a little bit, my life has been so busy of late that time has just not permitted good posts. But I will actually have time this weekend and I am excited to share photos, recipes and poetry with all of you. I made a pumpkin pie from scratch last weekend, roasted the pumpkins and all! It was so good that I will never be able to make a pie with the canned stuff again! Recipe will be posted this weekend for anyone that wants to try it.

Have a blessed day!

1 Year – October 22nd

20131022-082516.jpg

Oh my, today is my 1 year anniversary on Heather’s Photography. It’s crazy how fast the time goes by! It’s been very exciting to be well received by all of you. I appreciate all the comments and likes. I am so thankful for each and everyone of you who stops by to see what a girl in Missouri is up to. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
In other news, we had a first partial frost here last night and are expecting the really first hard frost this week some time. I do have to say I can handle that, and am very happy to not be our neighbors to the north east, I think I heard something about snow. That’s a four letter word in my book! So I will continue to enjoy the changing leaves and pumpkin everything for as long as I can. On a lighter note, I saw the most beautiful tree on the way to work, deep red. It was beautiful!
Again, thank you for visiting this year!

Have a blessed day!

The Advantages of Being A Passenger – October 11th

20131011-080331.jpg

Due to an illness I have been forced this week to be a passenger. This is weird to me, I am so used to always being the person who drives, but Dr.’s orders no driving. But there have been advantages to this, I actually got to watch the sun rise above the horizon the last couple of mornings, it has been beautiful. To see this bright orange ball of light rise over green fields filled with cattle and fog. What a treat. The other advantage is being chauffeured to the door at work, a girl could get used to that.

Have a blessed day!
